Getting started
Do I need to know pixel art to use Spritory?
No. You build assets from simple shapes, and your palette handles colors, shading and outlines. Pixel art knowledge helps you tune the look, but it is not required.
Can I try it for free?
Yes. The Sprite Forge and the VFX Forge are free to use. The preview carries a watermark, and saving, exporting, custom palettes and agent access come with full access.
Which browsers are supported?
Spritory runs in modern desktop browsers such as Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari. A larger screen makes the editors much easier to use.
Does Spritory use AI to draw my assets?
No. Spritory draws every pixel from your shapes and palette, and the same asset always comes out the same. AI agents can use Spritory as a tool, but they build through the same Forge you do.
Editing
Why does a palette setting seem to do nothing?
Some art styles handle outlines, dithering and shadows their own way, which overrides those palette settings. Switch to the Classic pixel art style to see every setting take effect.
Why did a shape stop changing color with my palette?
The shape has a custom hex color, which pins it to that color. Pick a color slot for the shape to link it to your palette again.
Why can I not change the canvas size?
Canvas size is locked while an animation has captured poses. Clear the timeline, change the size, then capture your poses again.
How do I make variations of the same asset?
Click Reroll seed above the canvas. The structure and palette stay the same, and the surface texture changes. You can also export a strip of seed variants from the export dialog.
I made a mistake. Can I undo it?
Yes. Press Cmd+Z to undo and Shift+Cmd+Z to redo. On Windows and Linux, use Ctrl instead of Cmd.
Saving and exporting
How do I save my work?
Name the asset above the canvas, then click Save in the Sprite Forge or Save to library in the VFX Forge. In the Sprite Forge you can also press Cmd+S, or Ctrl+S on Windows and Linux. Saving comes with full access.
What does a save include?
Everything needed to open it again: the shapes or emitters, the palette and art style, the light, the seed and every animation.
Where are my saved assets?
On the Saved page, where you can filter sprites and effects, search by name, and open or delete any save. Each editor also has a Saved card on the left. Saves sync across every device you sign in on.
Will opening a save replace what is on my canvas?
Yes, but if you have unsaved changes, the editor asks before discarding them.
I edited the same asset in two tabs and lost a change. Why?
When the same save is edited in two places, the last one to save wins. Keep one editor tab open per asset. AI agents avoid this: if a save changed since they read it, they read it again and reapply their edit.
Where do assets made by my AI agent go?
Into the same library as your own saves. Open them in the editor and change anything by hand.
Why is a scale option greyed out in the export dialog?
The export would be too large at that scale. Pick a smaller scale, or export fewer assets at once.
Can I use exported assets in a commercial game?
Yes. Assets you export are royalty free for commercial use with no attribution required. Every zip includes a licence file.
My pixel art looks blurry in my engine. How do I fix it?
Your engine is smoothing the texture. Set the texture filter to nearest or point. The Unity export already does this for you.
AI agents
Which AI agents work with Spritory?
Any agent that supports remote MCP servers with a custom header, including Codex, Claude Code, Gemini CLI, OpenCode, Cursor and VS Code.
My agent says it is unauthorized.
The token is wrong, revoked or missing. Check that the header is Authorization: Bearer followed by your full token, or create a new token on your billing page.
An export link from my agent no longer works.
Agent export links expire after 7 days. Your saves are still in your library, so export them again from the editor or ask your agent for a fresh export.
My agent says the rate limit was reached.
Agent requests are limited per minute. Wait a minute and try again. Asking for work in larger batches helps avoid the limit.
What can an agent do with my token?
A token lets an agent work with your Spritory sprites, effects and palettes, and export them. It cannot change your account or billing. Revoke a token at any time on your billing page.
